Seasonal Flu

For many influenza or the flu, while a serious illness, is not life-threatening though one may feel like it is at the time one is ill. But, for some the flu can indeed be life-threatening and it can have deadly consequences. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) deaths ranged from about 3,000 to as high as 49,000 people between the years 1976 and 2006. As a faith community we have a responsibility to protect ourselves and others from contracting and spreading the flu if possible. The best way to do this is to be knowledgeable about the flu and how to prevent it's spread.

You can visit the CDC website to learn important facts about Influenza and the Flu Vaccine. Two documents are also available and require Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader. Both documents are provided through the Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships. The 5 Things you can do to Fight Flu is a short list which can be easily placed on your refrigerator as a daily reminder. The Seasonal Flu Guide provides some additional basic information. There is also a section on The Affordable Care Act & the Flu Vaccine that you may find helpful.
